Ayla's Newborn Photoshoot

Ayla recently came to me as a last minute newborn booking. I was recommended to Ayla's Mummy by a previous client, which is how 90% of my clients find me. I always say the best thank you I can receive from a client is a referral and I am fortunate enough that lots of you refer me to friends, family & friends of friends time and time again.

Thanks goes to Amberlie on this occasion for sending me this beautiful little bundle to photograph! Thank you Amberlie :)

Ayla was 18 days old on the day of her photoshoot, and she certainly made us work for the sleepy poses! Like alot of babies around this age she was too greedy for her own good and liked to guzzle her milk much too fast - resulting in lot of winding and mopping of sick before we could pose her.

Ayla was also suffering from some minor baby acne on the day. Baby acne is completely normal and SO common. Unfortunately it tends to pop up quickly without much warning and can take a little longer to settle down afterwards.

I will never advise delaying a session due to baby skin issues such as flakiness, acne and milk spots as these can easily be edited out after the photoshoot. It is so important to capture your little one whilst they are still tiny and I would much prefer to edit any temporary skin blemishes than delay your session and risk not being able to capture those beautiful sleepy curled up newborn poses for you.

As the mum of a once very flaky newborn myself I can completely understand why lots of parents choose to have temporary skin blemishes and marks removed from their images. In the first few days of your babies life their skin is SO perfect, and it soon will be again once the flakes fall off and any baby spots fade, these really are so fleeting that it makes complete sense to me that you would want to remember your newborns soft peachy-perfect skin as it was at it's best.

It's important to me to keep skin looking natural and not to over-edit, I want you to enhance your newborns perfect little features, not detract from them.

Ayla had a really beautiful natural skin tone and I have seen lots of gorgeous photos of her taken by her Mummy since the session and her skin really is SO perfect, just like in the edited final images I presented in her gallery.

Below are a few examples of Ayla's skin edits to show you:

Ayla came for her session with her Mum, Nanny & Auntie. Mummy & Auntie had lots of fun looking through my newborn props and outfits to pick out their favourite pieces for Ayla to wear.

I know that Auntie had a particular soft spot for this litle bear bonnet and teddy, so it would be rude not to show you...

This is one of the most popular prop choices for newborn sessions and I can certainly see why.....soooo cute!
